Yes I am here, our spring semester ended here at the University and have
been swamped.

My understanding is there are two networker for netware releases. One
due shortly that will support NetWare 6.5 and have all of the hotfixes
that have been release post 4.21 tested and included.

The saveset issue was a bit less clear in the converstations I had with
Legato. I believe the saveset functionality changed enough between v6
and v7 that it didn't appear to be able to make the pre v7 client work.
Hence the resolution would be the second Networker Client for NetWare
being worked on, which is a v7 revision.

As far as Veritas as a replacement, we checked a few months ago and
they didn't support NetWare Clustering any better then Legato does
today, so they were not an option for us. However with the current
state of the budget in Illinois, it is a hard sell to switch to anything
these days... Hence my focus on pushing Legato.

Please note that it has been a few weeks since I talked to Legato,
hence this information could have changed. I intended to get an update
from them on May 24th.

I added us to the affected customers list after attending a User Form
in March.
We were told during the Form that this fix was not scheduled in
engineering and would take a year to complete, once they started.

They also told us that they would prioritize this based on the number
of affected customers.
At the end of March, we were the 8th customer added to LGTpa50711.
I would imagine, from watching this list, that there are only about 10
to 12 affected customers now.
This doesn't produce a very strong case.

We need to get everyone on board and/or a customer with a lot of $$$
pull with Legato/EMC.
If not, there will be 12 of us switching to Veritas, who provide an
excellent NetWare client.

PS. I provided George Raetzke with our NetWare numbers and have since
tried to contact him offline, without success.
If you are out there George, let us know how you made out with Novell
:-)

You and Craig (and anyone else interested in this issue) should
contact
George Raetzke offline. He has done more (as a customer) to push
Legato
with respect to NetWare than anyone else that I know of. He may (or
perhaps not) be able to provide you with information from Legato on
forthcoming releases for NetWare.

You can find his email address by searching the archives for this
list,
probably concentrate in the March-April 2004 timeframe.
