Thanks all. It really helps to have nsrexecd running on the client :(.
That's all it was. I thought I remembered it starting up right after the
installation when I installed it on the first Linux/Oracle client. I had
done the installation on this second one 3-4 days ago, and the dba
wasn't ready to try a test DB until yesterday.
