Sure.  Ask them to identify all of the chokepoints for backup, from the
source disk through systems and networks to the output device, and how they
would go about removing those chokepoints.

Ask them to explain how LAN and SAN technologies apply to backups.

I've got lots more, but these will wipe the grin of their faces.
