Hello,

We installed yesterday a new ADIC Scalar 100 with LTO Ultrium 2 drives.

For connecting the library above we used a SCSI I/O controller LSI Logic
LSI 53C1010-66 (see
http://www.lsilogic.com/files/docs/marketing_docs/storage_stand_prod/raid/l
si53c1010_pb.pdf).

This controller has been installed on an Intel-based server (a Compaq/HP
Proliant ML370G3) running Windows 2000 server and the proper driver
(SYM_U3.SYS) has been installed.

On the Windows 2000 server above we have a Legato Networker server version
7.1.1 where also another library (DLT) in connected to another I/O
controller.
The new Scalar 100 has been correctly recognized and configured via
jbconfig.

This below is an output of the inquire command:

I did some test speed using the bigasm directive on the same server where
the library is connected (no network interaction...) and now we have the
problem: the maximum speed obtained is 7 Mb/s. According to the specs, the
mounted IBM LTO2 drives should offer a transfer rate around 35 Mb/s...

Following the Legato Networker Performance Tuning Guide, I modified the
block size for the LTO2 drives. Default value for Legato on Windows 2000
with LTO2 drives is 64k, I set is to 256k with this method:

- using the environment NSR_DEV_BLOCK_SIZE_LTO_ULTRIUM_2
- modifing the registry value at
 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sym_u3
\Parameters\Device]
 "MaximumSGList"=dword:00000041

Speed is always the same even after the block size modification...

Thanks for any possible help.

Vito
