David,

If you re-installed the client (netware) you might want to go into the
client utility screen (Legato Networker App) and try and run a manual backup
form there - this will double check your TSA connection ....

Secondly, once in, go to your "adminisatration" menu on the client (F3 or
F4) and try and edit your client on the backup server (remember you will
need to have added the user or machine to the backup server as an
administrator).

then go into the user and password section - press F9 to clear the values
and re-enter them in the right context.

This has helped me before when I have unexplainable netware errors ...

Regards,
Riaan

Subject: [Networker] backup of Novell server failing after server full
restore

Hi gurus!

One of our Novell server became unstable after being patched (NetWare
Novell 6.x, see below for more infos). It was decided to reinstall the
system from the backup. Getting the system back on track wasn't easy
but people here managed to get it running again. However, since the
restore we can get the backup to run on that client...

We have tried everything we could possibly try:

- fix the indexes with nsrck -F
- try a nsrck -L 7 with and without renaming the indexes
- delete and recreate the client
- reboot the client
- stop/start the server and the client
- even reboot the server...
- try to start a full backup...

Nothing helped. Here is the message we get (in all cases) from the
server:

NetWorker Savegroup: (alert) full completed, 1 client(s) (hal Failed)
Start time: Mon Mar 1 15:09:35 2004
End time: Mon Mar 1 15:09:52 2004

License is ok, client and server can see each other. Other clients
(Solaris, Linux and Novell) are doing fine. Remote user and password
were unchanged.

Having tried everything we are somehow... out of ideas...

Does someone see the problem? Did we miss something out there?

Thanks in advance!
Regards,

David
