Sun is the current king on the hill because SGI screwed up big time. At one
time SGI was the leading web server. They could not be bothered exploiting
this. Sun also was smart enough to make sure that Sun was the easiest gear
to buy/lease for the internet companies. The other vendors were fast asleep.

Sun did well in the early years because DEC screwed up big time. DEC said
to their big customers that they would not keep the DECstation line once
the Alpha was in place. Result: Sun Sparc all over the place. One must
belive these people were allergic to money.
