As previously posted I have averaged 35MB/sec with a single job on my
similar setup.
My settings
2.6 kernel with JFS, large file system, maxtor maxline SATA and 3 ware
controllers.
I only use 2 partitions for 10TB. Unlike 6x, I found it easier in 7x to
have fewer partitions.

What kernel? 2.6 has some serious benefits. I am using 2.6.0-test9-bk12
and will probably try 2.6.3 when it comes out. Its been stable since I
installed it so I havent touched it.

What network adaptor? Ours is Intel Corp. 82546EB Gigabit. Is it set
right to match your switch?

Have you tried a bulk ftp test from a client to see throughput?

Are you using a hardware raid controller or software raid?

On the linux cluster list, they rave about the speed of software raid.
My particular setup uses hardware raid 5 assembled with software raid to
get the 2 large partitions.
