John,

The recovery won't take that long, but bear in mind that a savegrp -O will
only pick up the indexes of clients that are in the savegroup. Indexes for
any clients that you may no longer be backing up, that may still have valid
backups, will not be picked up in that backup.

Here is how I performed a similar move/upgrade.

Copy the following directories to your new system:

Logs (optional)
Index
Mm
Res

Put them in the /nsr_install_dir/

Install NetWorker 7.1 and the conversion (res files) will occur.

Hi All,

We need to move a NetWorker 6.1.3 server (Windows 2K) from an existing host
to a new one.

Dual CPU, 2.4 GHz, I GB RAM, Intel, Windows 2K, LTO-1 tape library.

We intend to run a savegrp -o onto a clean tape and after this run mmrecov
on the new host, followed by nsrck -L7 to restore each of the client file
indexes.

There are 25 clients with indexes ranging from tiny ( < 1 MB) up to over 1
GB. Total index space is 3.3 GB

I would like to get an idea of how long this is likely to take, to be able
to plan things properly.

Can anyone help ?

Some time later, we will be upgrading from 6.1.3. to 7.1. This involves an
index conversion (as I understand it.)

Any idea how long this might take ?

Thanks for any info.

John Hope-Bailie
