Hi,

I have two questions: 1. Why does the jbconfig tool sometimes skip
certain questions on subsequent runs and 2. why does the jukebox
configuration details under nwadmin not have anything selected under the
operation volume type.

We're running solaris on our primary server with one library. We
recently relocated two libraries running on an old Linux storage node
server to a new Linux storage node server. Of course, we had to run the
jbconfig program to re-configure them. We'd get all the way through
configuring one, and then it would issue some kind or weird error
message. Finally we got it to work, but we noticed that sometimes on
subsequent runs, it would not ask all the questions it had prior. For
example, the first two or three times it asked about the media type but
then after that it never did. We never had any problems configuring the
other library, but we noticed there, too, that it would provide defaults
for the first two devices (/dev/nst0 and 1) but not the others. Has
anyone seen this behavior, too?

We're using /etc/stinit.def same as before, but I noticed that when I
look under the jukebox configuration in nwadmin, I don't see any media
type selected for the operation volume type for the given jukebox. At
first I thought that perhaps I should select something, but then I
recalled that this was also how it was before the move. But I also
noticed that the config for the library running on the primary server --
it was never moved -- likewise does not list the media type. Seems odd
that Legato would allow you to get away with not having the media type
selected. I'm curious how it knows the type or where it stores it? Maybe
it gets it from /etc/stinit.def for the linux box or /kernel/drv/st.conf
for the sun? Should I set it manually or just leave it alone?

Thanks.

George
