I have seen that message on Solaris 9 after I applied the latest st patch (
9/03 ). You could confirm this by issueing the following command:

man st

If you do not see ST_BUFFERED_WRITES as one of the flags then you do have the
latest st patch. You could get rid of the message by removing the
ST_BUFFERED_WRITES from your bit pattern for the AIT-2 device in the st.conf.

Networkers,

Has anyone seen the following message during the boot cycle. It's not
displayed by dmesg or logged in /var/adm/messages.

SONY_AIT options value invalid bits set: 0x4000

Here's our environment:

Sun F15K - Solaris 8 (SAN Node)
Emulex LP9002L HBA
Connectrix SAN switch
ADIC Scalar 1000 library
Sony AIT-2 tape drives

Backup server - Sun V480 - Solaris 8

/kernel/drv/lpfc.conf are identical between the F15K and the V480
/kernel/drv/st.conf are also identical.

Backups and restores seem to work from/to the SAN Node.

Thanks,
