Just curious if you have tried to start the group from a command prompt.
You may get some output that helps if you use:
C:\> Savegrp.exe -vvv
Maybe also try running a probe:
C:\> Savegrp.exe -pvvv
I run in Windows Server, but have successfully used your PC scenario as well
for testing.

The time is approaching where I will move forward with upgrading the
Solaris 9 server that I run with NetWorker 6.1.3 to version 7. With that
in mind, I installed Networker 7 on the PC in my office just for testing
purposes. This PC runs Windows 2000 Professional.
Installing the software was no problem. I then configured the default
device to be a file type device and I selected "E:\" as my file device
since I have a spare disk drive in my PC to use as a tape device. I then
started the Default group, but nothing happens. The monitor window shows
"Default group" starting with 1 client, but then it just sits and sits and
does nothing even though I had already labeled and mounted a tape.
Just out of curiosity, when I got home tonight, I also installed 7.0 on my
Apple Powerbook with OS X 10.2.8 and Windowx XP Pro running under Virtual
PC 5.0. I then set up a file device of "C:\" and I kicked off a backup.
Here again, I get the same results where the software just sits after the
log message shows up that says the Default group has started.
What am I doing wrong? Just to be clear, I want to just try out NetWorker
7 on a Windows PC to familiarize myself with some of the new features of
this version before I move forward with upgrading my Solaris 9 server. I
also plan to try out the Linux version on the PC in my office which also
boots into Suse Linux, but I am curious to see the Windows version first
since I have never tried running a Legato server under Windows and I
figured it would be a good learning experience, even though its a bit of a
contrived operating environment.
