Have look to see what entries are in your DNS server for you Networker
server? Also make sure the client it pointing to the correct DNS server.
Another thing to try is adding an entry in for the server in the client's
host file and an entry for the client in servers host file.

Subject: [Networker] adding new client? DNS issue?

I am having a problem adding a new client to my NW backup server.
NT environment.

I have added the client as the full domain name and ip address as the alias
clientname.domainX
I have completed an nslookup of the ip and the full name and this is all
good.
however the client fails to backup with the following:
'clientname.domainY is not a registered client' I don't understand where
networker is getting the other domain name from?
both the domain names are active domains, but the client is registered as
domainX

can anyone give me any hints please.
Thank you
