Your not using some of the more recent additions to the st driver possibly
the one that might make the best improvment is ST_READ_IGNORE_ILI  0x40000
which would change 0x1d639 to 0x5d639. Also at that level of patch their
are inbuil;t drivers (in st) for HP LTO so you could try with the st.conf
definitions commented out.
If this still doesn't help then man st and play with the settings.
