What's the recommended way to start a savegroup from a unix command line
(Solaris server?) I usually run the nwadmin GUI and start it up from
there, but it would be nice to not need the X overhead when I'm
starting things remotely.

I'm guessing it involves nsradmin and a start now attribute. Could
someone share a script or procedure they use to start groups from the
command line? Thanks,

There are two answers to this, and both have already been posted.
However they are not both equal. There are two disadvantages with
running the savegrp command directly.

(1) You either need to keep the session open, or run it with a nohup,
batch command whatever.

(2) You can't then stop the group from the NetWorker GUI or other tools.
You would need to kill it if you changed your mind.

Running the nsradmin "start now" method still ultimately runs the
savegrp command, but it is under NetWorker's control. It is still
possible to stop the group from nwadmin if you choose. This is my
preference in many cases.

The advantage of running savegrp directly is that you can add some
parameters that are not available when running it from the GUI, such as
the "-w" parameter. This is not so much an advantage of the method, more
of a way of overcoming a NetWorker shortcoming.
