No although I'm using the windows Gui, I'm restoring from linux box 1
--> linux box 2. So this discounts this.
I have tested from the command line, I seem to be able to mark and check
versions fine. Any thoughts on why this will not work on windows...

If you are trying to restore files from the server and direct those
files
to the client, the server and client must have the same OS class. That
means if you servers is windows based you can only direct restore to
windows based clients (Unix based servers to unix clients and Linux
server
to linux clients).

Try going to the client and using the recover command line for nwrecover

GUI. This should fix you problem.

Hello,

I'm running networker 7 on linux and have a small issue I can't work
out. When trying to restore a file from a linux client using the
networker user gui from windows I get the following error. "you
cannot find versions of /. it is not a real file". I can restore
files from windows cients without and issues, can anyone maybe shed
any light on this ?

At NetWorker 6 there were limitations on cross platform recovery
control. In some cases as you have discovered it will work from a
command line but not from a GUI. This limitation is known and
ackowledged. I did think that the situation was improved at NW 7, but
perhaps not all combinations are supported yet.

You could of course use the Unix GUI, that will certainly work.
