Jim,

nsradmin can be run from any client. Here is an excerpt from a script I use
to start a savegroup from a Solaris client on a Windows 2K server using
nsradmin:

echo "
  . type: NSR group;
  name: <savegroup name>
  update Autostart: Start now" | nsradmin -s <server name> -i -

Replace the things in < > with values appropriate to your configuration.

Of course if you're client's OS is Windows based the structure of the
command would be somewhat different and I know this doesn't really show you
how to do exactly what you want to do but I hope it gives you enough hints
to figure it out. The nsradmin help (man pages) should be helpful too.

Davina - Thanks for your response. I am not clear how to update the
client resource. I think I hear that on the client I execute a script
to generate a save set list to be backed up. Then ftp this to the
networker server and update the client resource via nswadmin. Or can I
run nsradmin on the client - referencing the server? Seems the
challenge I how do I dynamically update the client resource on the
server from a process running on the client? Am I missing something?
