Hi List,

perhaps this needs a bit more explanation:

We are experimenting with starting NetWorker saves in sync with other tasks on
other systems.
So if a process on A is done, the Backup on B should start.
unfortunately we cannot have A signal B to start the backup. A, however can
contact the NetWorker Server and the Server can contact B

so what we are trying to do is write a little script that, when it receives a
signal from A, starts a backup on B, unscheduled.

using savegrp is not an option, because multiple servers in the same group can
start at different overlapping times.
We're not too fond of 'launch-scheduled-and-wait' options either.

using nsrexec seems like a good idea, especially since we got it working
already. the only real pitfall is that it has to be run as root.

my question was if anyone on the list has any other suggestions on how to
tackle this situation

TIA,
Kris

In which case, you should probably use the "save" command on the client.
