Hello,

Could you check your driver version for your Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller ?

Best Regards
Jean-Pierre GIROT.

This problem has plagued me off and on for a while now, and it has
reared it's ugly head again.

Here's my config for reference.

Backup Server:

Compaq Prolaint DL380G2
Dual 1.44GHz processors
1024 MB RAM
Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller
5 NIC devices (3 are trunked together to make 300 Base-T (well sort of))
OS: Windows 2000 Adv Server w/ all current critical patches (including
the MSBlaster hotfix)
Networker 6.2

Storage Node:
Compaq Proliant DL380 G1
Dual 800MHz processors
1024 MB RAM
Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller
OS: Red Hat Linux 7.2
Networker 6.1.2

Tape Hardware: ADIC Scalar 1000 w/ 4 SDLT220 tape drives (2 drives for
the server & 2 for the storage node)

I have just updated the Windows SCSI and SDLT drivers to the latest
available because of this issue. That did not fix the problem.

Here's the deal. Every so often, tape drive write speed drops to about
1600KB/s from a blistering 15MB/s plus on the Windows tape drives.
Even when cloning. I'm not sure what is causing this to happen, but it
prevents me from getting things done in a timely manner.

Has anyone else seen this before?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm about to turn off Networker and try
defragging the Disk.

Thanks,
Paul C.
