Have you checked the NIC settings on each of the servers / clients
involved? Perhaps they are set to auto and should be forced to
100/full. I would recommend checking this as a starting point.

Ever time our SA's get hold of a system and we see the same symptoms as
explained below, we find it's an auto-negotiation issue 9/10 times.

Subject: Very Slow Backups?

Win2000, Exabyte Mammoth2, Networker 6.1

We were experiencing some hard drive problems so our vendor had us
basically
replace everything from the drives to the SCSI Card one at a time. Last
being the SCSI Card. The hardware issues we had disappeared after
replacing
the SCSI Card but now my back ups are running much slower than before.
I am
running about 500kb now compared to high MB I was getting before.

Also for most of this period I was on Medical leave, vacation and away
at
training so I am not sure when the backup speed took a dive.

What could have been changed?

Thanks,
