Ok here goes,

DRM by defaut is "relatively" smart. Meaning the process that is uses to
determine what files to include in the MOS image is quite complete. It will
automatically update (with certain files) the musthave.lst .

For the users preference you can as well manually edit those two files to
include or exclude things you spcifically want.

There is no fixed list as to what NEED to be in them. I have excluded in my
blacklist file the MOS images themselves (just to be sure) and then I have a
few application directories that I want to ensure are on the CD - these I
have specified (the full directory pathname) in the musthave file.

Typically you dont want to exclude your C: drive (I have tested this and it
fails horribly).

Sometimes DRM has "issues" with certain files that for some reason cause the
utility to abort. (you can see these aborted messages in the drmtrace.log
file). You would want to include these specific files in your blacklist file
as well.

Hope this helps,

Regards,
Riaan

Hi,

Thanks for your smart reply.
It's NRM for windows 2000.
I don't know exactly the version but It's the latest.
But any way I got these files under NRMW folder.
So, Now I put my hand on the first step which is great for me.
Then, my question now is which files and folders should I exclude
without affecting the image itself?
In another words, what is the standard excluded files to just create a
successful image?
Also, what is the standard format for this file? Could u please send me
a simulated file?

Sorry for asking too much but I want u to get my points.

Again Many thanks and I appreciate ur fast reply.

Hi,

Which version of NRM (or also known as DRM) are you running?

In the older version of NRM (1.x - I cannot vouch a 100% for version
2.x) you have two files in your DRM installation directory - musthave
and blacklist - which are text based files to "force include" and "force
exclude" of certain files (which you specify).

Directions on how to specify files are within the file itself (musthave
- something like c:\program files\nsr\res,MANDATORY - to force DRM to
include the \nsr\res directory). etc etc.

It is as well important that you dont "fiddle" with the recovery manager
client configuration on your backup server without "updating" the
settings from within your client (meaning - run the drm console from
your client and make changes there).

Riaan

Hi All

I installed Disaster Recovery Manager DRM correctly for the first time
to me. I installed its license first and then I installed it
successfully with no problem. Then I did MOS for one client with no
problem. But, I failed to do this for another client. I tried the first
client again but also I failed .... why?

I got message that {the real size of image Exceeds the default size of
images}. I heard that there is something to do to exclude files or
something like this but I didn't find any mention to this in the
documentation CD. Can anybody please advise me how to do this
filtration?

your fast answer is highly appreciated.

Thanks and regards
