Ernst,

"Directory Services Restore Mode" IS required when recovering SYSTEM STATE:
to a domain controller. This is documented in the NetWorker Administrator's
Guide for Windows.

In addition, if you wish this to be an authoritative restore, you need to
use the ntdsutil utility to promote the just-restored AD.

Hallo Wes,

would it be possible to explain why "AD Recovery Mode" is not needed to
recover a PDC with Networker ?

Bye

James,

Backup of Windows 2000 System State is built into the NetWorker client for
Windows 2000.

If you back up "All", System State is automatically backed up. You will see
the special saveset "SYSTEM STATE:".

You can also create a client definition that backs up only the "SYSTEM
STATE:" saveset.

Hope this helps,

Wes

What is the best way to back the system state in AD? Should I have the
Windows 2000 server back it up to a file then have Networker backup it up?
Or does networker have a module or setting to back it up?

Thanks
James
