OK, I have my nsrdbmi script is like this:

NSR_DATA_VOLUME_POOL="DBMIData"
DO_LOGFILE_BACKUPS=YES
NSR_LOG_VOLUME_POOL="DBMILogs"
DO_BOOTFILE_BACKUPS=YES
BOOTFILE_LIST=/informix/PR1/nsrblist
NSR_COMPRESSION=TRUE
INFORMIXDIR=/informix/PR1
ONCONFIG=onconfig.prodb.pr1
INFORMIXSQLHOSTS=$INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts.soc
PATH=$INFORMIXDIR/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/opt/networker/bin:/usr/opt/networker/b
in:/usr/bin
NSR_DEBUG_FILE=/nsr/applogs/xbsa.messages
NSR_DEBUG_LEVEL=2

My server is Networker 6.02 on Windows NT 4.0 and this client is SAP R/3
Informix Database server on UNIX (HP-UX 11)

I don't think I want to start a volume clone, since I have data from other
database backups (DEV, QAS) in the same volume and I don't want that data
cloned (only PRD). Also because database data goes to one volume pool
(DBMIData) and logfile data goes to a different volume pool (DBMILogs).

If I start a saveset clone, do I have to specify to networker ALL the
savesets I want to clone? Because every Informix dbspace goes to a separate
saveset, and every logfile goes to a separate saveset also.

When I do my manual cloning, I select about 70 entries (savesets) to clone,
including DATA from all my dbspaces and all LOGS used from full backup start
time to full backup end time from the resulting networker's clone save set
"query".

So, my question is:

How can I "AUTOMATICALLY" clone (not via save set clone menu, but via
command line with "nsrclone") every full backup, including the log files
that were filled up while the backup was running?

Thanks again.

Hi,

1) the online backup of the informix database is NOT consistent without
logfiles.

2) in your nsrdbmi script set the parameter: DO_LOGFILE_BACKUPS=YES and
define a NSR_LOG_VOLUME_POOL, after backup is done you can do an saveset- or
volume clone.

regards
Klaus

Betreff: [Networker] Cloning Informix online full database backups

We perform an automatic online full Informix database backup (onbar -b -L0)
every Saturday night, starting at 8pm and ending at 3am Sunday approximately
to the DBMIData pool. While the backup is running, a number of log files are
filled up with transactional data and saved automatically to the DBMILogs
pool.

We need to clone the full backup data, but we are concerned about
transactional log files not being included in the clone tape.

I have some questions:

1. Is the data of an informix full online backup consistent (without de log
files) or do I need the log files in order to restore a consistent database.

2. If no, how can I automatically clone every full backup, including the log
files that were filled up while the backup was running?

Thanks for your help and advise.
