I've seen this message when reading tapes that were labelled as DLT700's on
LTO drives. Not as bad as it sounds we attached a LTO jukebox to a
networker 5.3 storage node which didn't know about LTO , configuring the
drives as DLT7000's allowed them to work but when networker was upgraded to
6.1.3 and the jukebox drives correctly set to LTO, the tapes still worked
except we got the space message when the tapes were read. As the tapes get
recycled they get relabelled as LTO tapes.
mminfo -a -r 'volume,type'
will give you a list of what the tapes think they are.
