Baris,
I am working like you described excepted I am not using
RMAN yet to backup the DB.
I am mounting BCV on the storage node and backuping
file systems (Tru64 Unix). We ported our scripts to use
LSM, AdvFS on top of LSM, and Veritas volume manager (on Sun solaris).
Regarding Archives, we established a dump volume on the Storage node
where different oracle DB are depositing generated archives
via RCP during the day. A mechanism has been implemented to cross-check
copied archive (sum).
Once a day (or more), the dump space is scanned by a script
that generates the saves to Legato. A tree path has been designed
to easily locate archive (path based on hostname and Oracle SID).
That's working fine.
HTH,
Thierry

Subject: [Networker] EMC-ORACLE-LEGATO
Hi,
Does anyone have experience with using EMC's Timefinder and BCVs for Oracle
backups?
Assume that BCVs mounted from backup server. After BCV is established, I
opened database in mount mode at backup server. via RMAN script(I am using
Recovery catalog), I backup up mounted database, as a result, there is no
load on production server.
But to backup generated archive logs on production server, what strategy
will be applied to get best results?
Thanks.
