Most likely it has reached a part of the save set that is backing up a lot
of small files. If the files are highly compressable, and you are useing
software compression that would account for this. Even without software
compression, it can still bog down.
I see our W2K server backups occasionally drop down to 5-10 KBPS, but
eventually they go back up.
You can test this by selecting a subsection of the backup that only includes
LARGE files, then running a backup.

I ran into this with a Fax server that had 100,000 + fax images to back up.
When the backup would run it would vary from 5KBS to 1MBPS.

Greetings,

We are trying to back up a save set that is 120gb. It is a W2K node, being
backed up to a SOL 9 /SBU 6.1.3 server. Its starts at about 5mb per sec,
(acceptable), then drops to 5kb per second (unacceptable!) after some time.

My question is X fold;

a) Is there any special trick to getting large file systems to backup
over the network when the node is W2K. (besides replacing it with Solaris
:-) )
b) Any know issues with backing up to SOL box's from a W2k node.

Regards
Grant,
