Need suggestions on helping determine where my DLT subsystem is failing.
I have an Overland DLT library connected to a Linux SCSI Legato
Networker (6.1.2) server.

Backing up to the file devices is working absolutely great. The DLT
is generating errors.

Using the Library's front pannel I can move tapes around all day
without effort, mount, unmount, clean drives, etc. Using legato to
mount a tape generates a "read open error, invalid argument".

Executing inquire I get this:

root@legato:/etc/LGTOuscsi# ./inquire
[email protected]:FUJITSU MAN3367MC 0107|Disk, /dev/sg0
[email protected]:FUJITSU MAN3367MC 0107|Disk, /dev/sg1
[email protected]:FUJITSU MAN3367MC 0107|Disk, /dev/sg2
[email protected]:FUJITSU MAN3367MC 0107|Disk, /dev/sg3
[email protected]:FUJITSU MAN3367MC 0107|Disk, /dev/sg4
[email protected]:FUJITSU MAN3367MC 0107|Disk, /dev/sg5
[email protected]:OVERLANDLXB 0516|Autochanger (Jukebox), /dev/sg6
[email protected]:QUANTUM DLT7000 204B|Tape, /dev/nst0

but in the dmessage I'm getting this:
root AT legato DOT sea:/usr/local/sbin# dmesg
sym53c875-2-<5,*>: FAST-10 WIDE SCSI 20.0 MB/s (100.0 ns, offset 15)
sym53c875-2-<5,*>: FAST-10 WIDE SCSI 20.0 MB/s (100.0 ns, offset 15)

The 5 indicates my tape drive however I'll get those for each device if
I wait long enough or do enough different operations.

The system has 3 tape devices at addresses 3,4 and 5. I've unplugged 3
and 4 for now. I've done musical chairs with my cables, replaced the
cable from the server to the library, the cable frm the drive to the
scsi chain as well. I can get these errors removing any component.

:wq!
