I have seen exactly this problem and it is a DLT7000 problem. Something
happens to one of the drives, and the problem is then transmitted to the
others via the tapes, almost like a virus. The fix is to upgrade the drive
firmware, since 2565 is no longer the latest. I found it hard to believe
that this could be a firmware problem after many months of problem-free
running at 2565, but sure enough this was the problem and it went away after
 upgrading all the drive firmware.
