I suggest you look at the meaning of the error messages:

net helpmsg <decimal error number>

Subject: [Networker] Jukebox and Storage node Problems

Hi,

I've some trouble with a ESL9198 Compaq Tapelibrary with 4 drives direct
attached
to NetWorker backup server and Networker Storage node

Coniguration:

Backup server Compaq Proliant WNT 4Sp6a and Networker 6.0.2 Build251
Storage node Compaq ML580 W2K NetWorker 6.0.2 Build251
ELS9198 Firmware 3.0 with 4 DLT800 drives

Problem: Backup - Server manages load/unload on all drives
but read/write operations on the rd=<Storage nodename>:\\.\Tape{0,1}

results in error code:

rd=<Storage nodename>:\\.\Tape0 read open error:unknown error 1165
(0x48d)
and
rd=<Storage nodename>:\\.\Tape0 read open error:unknown error 21 (0x15)

BTW RSM service on W2K box is disabled.

Tried also to change the order of the devices in the jukebox resource.
Results where the same.

Native NTBackup is aware of the tape drives with the appropriate special
device
settings as shown with inquire- and tapes-commands
