Hi,

you could make that backup with a retention time of one day - after the
backups the tapes would expire and networker would not ask for them any
more. Obviously it would have no more full backup, so the next incremental
would be a full bacause Networker is "smart" to detect there is no more full
backup to use.

The best would be to make a full backup with a retention time of, lets say a
year. This backup will be taken out of the library - period. The next backup
you would need to do is the same client, different schedule, different group
and sure a different pool - with maybe a weelky full.

That's the only sensible way I see.

Yours
Johanes

Betreff: [Networker] Independent Backup

Hi Guys,

I need to take an independent backup of my clients, say I am taking a FULL
Backup and I need to preserve it somewhere offsite ( far away ). and at my
location I need my incremental backup to carry as normal but in case
somebody
asks for restoration then legato server obviously asks for full tapes first
and
then incremental tapes so I want that FULL backup to be completely
independent
( one can say that it should not write the info in original indexes rather
should create separate indexes?)

Any clues?

Thanks
Deepak
