Itzik,

Could you (or anyone else) explain a little further about these new
barcoded tape labels with the D, S1, etc. suffix on them? Will all new
labels come with the suffix? Is it required? What needs to be done if we
want to keep using six character labels with NetWorker? If we "set the
field length to 6", is that in NetWorker or on the library? Do I have to
have someone from the manufacturer change my library or can I do it?

We recently started using an ATL P4000 with 8 SDLT drives. We tried using
the labels supplied by ATL, but didn't like the 8 character labels, all
ending in S1. Of course we had no idea what the S1 was there for, so we
went back to our old 6 character DLT labels which have been working fine.
At least the SDLT data cartridges seem to work fine with the old six
character labels.

The old label didn't work so well for the SDLT cleaning cartridge. With
the old format label we received an error stating "Medium incompatible"
when we tried to load the cleaning tape into a drive. Changing to a new
cleaning label with the S1 suffix resolved the problem.

Thanks for any info you can provide.
