I am trying to scan an ssid from a media tape, as the recovery of one file
did not complete sucessfully, 'bad or missing record' error, so I am trying
to correct the file record error by scanning the tape to re-build.

I have hit off
scanner -i -S ssid# tapedevice
it then gave the following message:

scanner: scanning dlt7000 tape on device
scanner: dlt7000 tape already exisits in the media index

and now nothing, it appears to be doing something, as it hasn't gone back
to the command prompt. I hoped it would just scan the savesets with the
given ssid, however this has been running for 2 hours? would it be
scanning the whole tape?
any ideas?
