mmrecov will restore the corrupt server index. depending on last
bootstrap you may lose backup data info. nsrck will run a check on the
index, so it is a good idea to eventually run that, i usually in the
past have run it on all clients as time would permit, to ensure no
curruption. we have not had legato for about 2 years, so i think the
procedure is still the same, but not sure
hope this helps

Just wondering if any of you ever use "mmrecov" only
to recover the backup server in the event of crash and
data loss (say no file system survived)on the server?

The DR guide (networker 6.1) from Legato specifically
says that in such a situation, one need to run
"mmrecov" first, then "nsrck -L7". I have been able to
recover save sets without running the "nsrck" command
at all. but Sun technical support rejected this
approach as "uncertified". Can somebody shed some
light regarding the benefits and problems with this
approach ("mmrecov" without "nsrck")?

Thanks.
