LS,

I assume your oracle database was running ( ie not closed ) when the backup
was made?

Making a 'warm' backup of an oracle database should be done using rman ( or
with the Legato Bussiness module for Oracle, which also uses oracle ).
To be able to recover an oracle database from files 'saved' with regular
networker (ie a filesystem save ), you have to shutdown the oracle database
first.

Recovering from 'saved' datafiles may work in some cases, but can't be
guaranteed.

You could skip the datafiles with nsr directives, then use rman to dump the
warm database to files, then use legato to save these files.
When you want to recover, figure out which files to restore, then use rman
to recover the database from these.

Best Regards,

Dirk Verhoeff
