First the easy error "hprefs1:SYS: Cannot open rpc user or group
file" : There is a rpcuser file on the CD that does not get
automatically copied to the server. I can't rememeber directory,
but it is easy to look up on the website.
First look to make sure there are no left over swap files in your
TSA directory from failed backups, just delete them if there are.
I would try unloading the smdr and tsa nlms, and then load smdr new.
If this does not fix the problem, there is a procedure on the
Novell site on deleting the smdr info and smsrpcusers info out of
NDS and recreating it. It is very easy to follow, just loading smdr
new will recreate the NDS entries automatically. This has always
solved this problem for me. If you can't find it I will can send
you the exact procedure.

Greetings,
I'm having a strange problem with a couple of my NetWare Clients.
I haven't gotten a good full of this server in a while.
The weird thing is I can get the SYS volume but not VOL1.
Here is the error -
--- Unsuccessful Save Sets ---
* hprefs1:VOL1: 1 retry attempted
* hprefs1:VOL1: RPC error, Unknown protocol
* hprefs1:VOL1: Cannot access nsr server legato2
* hprefs1:Server Specific Info 1 retry attempted
* hprefs1:Server Specific Info RPC error, Unknown protocol
* hprefs1:Server Specific Info Cannot access nsr server legato2
--- Successful Save Sets ---

hprefs1: SYS: level=full, 1809581 KB 00:15:06
24643 files
legato2: index:hprefs1 level=full, 59 MB 00:00:40

Any Netware folks want to offer advice or suggestions?
The actual Legato Server is running
Version: Solstice Backup 6.1.1.Build.238 Power/410
Though I strongly doubt that has anything to do with it as we are
backing up several other NetWare 5 clients without this error.
Many Thanks!
Paul
