Hi folks,

My set-up is as follows:

1 x NetWorker Network Edition server v6.1 running on HP-UX 11.0
+ 1 x 8-slot DLT7000 jukebox
+ 1 x single external DLT7000 drive
+ 1 x single internal DDS3 drive
+ 1 x disk storage device

and

1 x NetWorker Storage Node running on NT4 SP6a
+ 1 x 8-slot DLT7000 jukebox
+ 1 single internal DLT7000 drive

I am currently fooling around with cloning & staging with a view to doing
clever things with the transaction logs on some of our SQL clients.

My tests suggest to me that the following is true:

1. Cloning and staging direct data to media pools dependent on the value of
the "clone storage node" attribute of the NetWorker server

2. The "clone storage node" attribute is only relevant to the client
records for the server and the storage node.

3. The attributes "Save mount timeout" and "Save lockout" actually apply to
the storage node to which the device is attached, not the device itself.

If I have got this all correct, then I have a problem. We want to carry
out backups to the disk area on the NetWorker server which would be cloned
to the tape device on the storage node. No problem, you say. I also,
however, want staging to occur such that data is staged from the disk area
on the NetWorker server to the single DLT drive also on the NetWorker
server.

Any ideas ??

TIA

Matthew
