Folks,

I just wanted to follow up to the list on the cloning problem I had a while
back.

Problem summary: After cloning and deleting originals, *some* of the
savesets were not browsable. Most savesets were browsable but an
arbritrary few of them were not. There was no apparent pattern to the ones
that were not. Of 34 savesets, 9 of them were missing browsable entries.
Maybe these all came from the same original tape - I dunno.

Solution summary: used mminfo to list all the savesets in the clone pool:

mminfo -a -o mo -r 'volume(10),pool(20),savetime,totalsize(13),nfiles
(6),name,ssid,nsavetime,client' -q 'pool=Backup Clone' > mminfo.clone

This created a list of all savesets in the pool and the number of files in
each saveset. This list is sorted by volume name and offset.

Next, for each saveset, I ran 'nsrinfo -t <date> <client>'. This listed
all the files for that saveset contained in the file index. For all
savesets that had 0 files, I ran scanner. Actually I ran one scanner for
each tape using all the SSID's that needed scanning from that tape:

time scanner -i -S 325548211 -S 3251544281 -S 3250524418 /dev/rmt/ait1nb

scanner promts for additional tapes if the saveset spans multiple volumes.

Once scanner completed, I was able to browse the missing files. Problem
solved. I think network got confused sometime during the initial clone as
it is *supposed* to keep the file index entries for clones or originals -
no special handling required.

Regards,

Chuck Davis
