Procedure is mostly okay, except for one BIG problem: AFAIK, it's not
possible to mmrecov from NT to UNIX platforms, or vice versa. I've tried a
few times, with no results - I'm told it's a "big-endian" vs. "little-
endian" thing in the mmdb. If anybody else has had success, let me know!

As of 6.x, client-file indexes can be copied as you describe.

Your best option, besides scanning in all tapes, is to leave old server
intact for restores only, start fresh on new server.

Also:

Typically you would rename the /nsr/res directory to res.new, and rename
the res.R directory (restored by the mmrecov command) to /nsr/res to
recover the original server config, including Clients and licensing
(jukebox has to be deleted and created again) which avoids Step 12, which
can be tricky (see recent threads about Client ID string). HOWEVER, if you
do this, you MUST shut down old server before starting up new server. And
you'll probably get a whole new set of enablers anyway. (Have you talked
to Legato or your reseller yet about licensing costs to change platforms?)
