I am trying to come up with a strategy to make a "safe" copy that I'll keep for
for more then 1 year. The clone is made into a clone pool. The problem is the
saveset browse and retention time on that cloned copy are the same as the
original saveset. I can't increase the browse and retention on the clone copy
without it increasing on the copy in the online pool. I want to make sure the
cloned copy does not expire and get recycled. How are people handling this?
If I remove the tape from the library, or mark the whole volume as not
recyclable, that would do it. When the savesets expire and drop out of the
index, are files on the clone tape are only accessible by doing a scanner on the
tape?? Would it make sense to create a flat file with a listing on the tape
with index marks or something similar that would make accessing files on the
tape
easier if needed? Is there a way to purge the entry off the regular backup
pool, but keep the information in the database for the clone pool.

I am using NW 6.1.1. HPUX 10.20

Thanks,
Tom
