Fellow Networkers:
Networker server: Sun 450 running Solaris 8, Networker 6.1.1
We've recently installed a StorageTek L700e with 6 x HP LTO (LVD)
drives. "Inquire" reports 2 LTO devices that do not exist. At least it DID
report 2. This morning, having run a backup overnight, we have 3 phantom
devices.
The two phantom devices were "associated" with real devices and both of
these real devices cause a problem....one runs very slowly and the other
fails (sometimes) to unload a tape and reports a "read i/o error".
Don't know whether we have an OS, Networker or Library problem or something
else.
I've included output from "inquire". The phantom ones are [email protected]
[email protected] [email protected]
The real (problem) ones are [email protected] and [email protected]
You'll notice that the device files for the 2 real (problem)devices are
missing. They WERE there but we've followed Sun's advice in attempting to
deal with it. boot -r will probably get them back.
Anyone else had to deal with phantom devices?
