I am backuping clients through firewall without any problem.
Here is the list of the ports I opened :
From backup Server and SN to clients
PortMap : Udp 111
PortMap : Tcp 111
Networker-10001-12500 : Tcp
Networker-7537-7660 : Tcp
Networler-7937-8100-tcp : Tcp
Networker-8910 : Tcp
Networker-8911 : Tcp
Networker-udp-7938 : Udp
Snmp
Snmp-Trap
From Clients to Backup server and SN
Syslog
Snmp
Snmp-Trap
Networker-10001-12500 : Tcp
Networker-7537-7660 : Tcp
Networler-7937-8100-tcp : Tcp
Networker-8910 : Tcp
Networker-8911 : Tcp
Networker-udp-7938 : Udp
You have also to restrict port range from client and server level
(nsrla.res)
to match with your FW settings.
In my case :
connection ports: 10001-12500;
service ports: 7937-8100;

Subject: Re: [Networker] Backup through a firewall?
You'll have to check the ports on the FW to make sure the correct ones
are
open, if the clients are NT or W2k you'll need to make sure the host
files
have entries.
One major problem we have encountered and are still having is that the
client will not update the server in some cases to tell it to stop, so
the
backup server continues to back the client up even though it already has
several times.
There have been a few fixes on this forum people have mentioned but they
didn't seem to fix our problem, they main problem is when a nolia fw is
being used.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Dan

Subject: [Networker] Backup through a firewall?
Hi All
Any pointers on running Networker through a firewall?
I have a machine in my DMZ I want to back up and the backup server is of
course inside the firewall.
Cheers,
