You can use a tool called Process Explorer which can be found at
www.sysinternals.com, I believe. This will show which device is in use by
which nsrmmd process and allow you to kill it. We used to have a problem where
we had to use this utility to kill offending sessions which were hanging onto
the device(s) but doing nothing.
