Stan,
The date ( Dec 31 19:00:00 GMT-0500 1969) is the 1/1/1970 0:00 but
displayed using GMT -5 timezone.
I saw that problem when DNS or /etc/hosts was not correctly
or not completely (FQDN & NFQDN) filled.
I suggest you to :
- fill /etc/hosts correctly
- check for /nsr/res/servers file filled correctly
- check if nsrexecd runs on the client
- check for aliases in the client's alias field.
- check for possible corruption (or error) in the /etc/hosts
- check for possible FW
I also saw that error when the client has multiple NIC cards not
properly resolvable.
Hope that helps,
Thierry
Kind regards - Bien cordialement - Vriendelijke groeten,

Subject: [Networker] Trouble with a Tru64 system
Our NetWorker server runs the Power Edition of Networker 6.1.1 under the
Tru64 Unix 4.0f operating system. I have run into a problem adding a
system called gs873ps to the backup schedule. The client in question
runs
Tru64 5.1a with Networker 6.1.1. When I try to back up that system, it
fails with a strange error that I can recreate via a probe.
I do not understand why this is failing.
Here's the results of a probe:
# savegrp -p -l full test
* gs873ps:All nsrexec: authtype nsrexec
* gs873ps:All savefs: nothing to save
savefs gs873ps: failed.
gs873ps:All level=full, pool=others, save as of Wed Dec 31
19:00:00 GMT-0500 1969
gs873ps:index level=full, pool=others, save as of Wed Dec 31
19:00:00 GMT-0500 1969
What I do not understand is why this is happening and where that Dec 31,
1969 date comes from. This gs873ps system has about twenty volumes, some
reside on a Compaq Storageworks SAN. I can see all the volumes from our
backup server. Both systems can ping each other and resolve each other's
hostname, yet this isn't working. Any suggestions as to why will be
appreciated.
