After I've dealt with this (and possibly run the root tests too): how do I report?
Is the submission engine still missing?
Is a mail like this expected?
Other means?

I think you want the devel/cmake port, which contains ctest.

But you probably already have that if the tests are running.
Uh... I was not using ctest :)
My first run is in the report page.
I'll see if I can fix the failing test and possibly check other configuration/platforms.

One other thing: I get
Performing coverage
Could not find gcov.
Cannot find any coverage files. Ignoring Coverage request.
  Use HTTP Proxy: http://10.1.2.39:8080

Is it important/worth that I get gcov?

I don't know where gcov comes from or how for you to get it.

My tests end with:

90/90 Test #90: disk:next-vol-test ...............   Passed    0.03 sec

100% tests passed, 0 tests failed out of 90

Total Test time (real) = 3768.81 sec

Do you suggest a particular flavour (e.g. from lang/gcc-5.4.0_1?)

I use this from base:

$ cc -v
FreeBSD clang version 3.4.1 (tags/RELEASE_34/dot1-final 208032) 20140512
Target: x86_64-unknown-freebsd10.3
Thread model: posix
Selected GCC installation:
