I've no problems backing up Win XP Pro (SP3) using 32-bit client v5.0.3
and 5.0.2 on the server.
Hence, a couple of questions:
Are you running 32-bit OS?
Are you sure there's no some sort of permission problem?
I mean, what if the SYSTEM account cannot read the FD configuration
file or access some other resource?
I would try to run bacula-fd in debug mode under the local system
account. That could be achieved using `psexec -s -i ...` (see [1]).
