[Bacula-users] How to implement mobile/itinerant clients in bacula
2010-09-14 08:40:56
Hi
I am implementing Bacula in my information system and I have to backup
various file/mail… servers.
I have also to backup few laptop machines that are used for mobile
usage like remote working/conferences.
The problem is that theses station may been connected from various
location so with different ip addresses.
Have you ever tried to implement a function where the station "say
hello" to the director when it's on a good network link or inside the
local network of the company so the backup are done only when the
station is available ?
According to the doc, it cant be done natively because its the
director who contact the client on a static address or domain name but
I think that some script can easily tell to start a job in this case
without making a lot of log and errors reporting.
What method would you use ?
Thanks
Hugo L.
