1) setup automount of the usb disk on the mountpoint /media/usbdisk
2) always backup to /media/usbdisk
3) add the right number of volumes (I use 5GB size) to fill 3 disks
4) volume retention is 3 months
5) at the end of the month I update last used volume status to Used (it
was Append) before umount; the next backup will create a new volume
on /media/usbdisk
6) I generate a list of volumes by disk
7) when the volumes data expire the volumes are recycled so no new
volume need to be created
8) before a restore you simply need to mount the right usb disk

You should send a remainder to the operator at the end of the month..
