Hmm. 3 hours is interesting to me. The reason is this is the correct
time to write an entire tape. Also in no way should 86GB take 3 hours.
To me this sounds like the tape or the tape drive is the problem. But
it may also be related to the scsi bus.

WoW that is slow for LTO!

I would do a dd test with the drive

Are you sure your scsi card is operating in the correct mode and you
are not seeing any more domain validation messages in your dmesg.
