I am currently hosting backuppc on a server running Scientific Linux 6.1.

When I want to browse a disk that is not the current series of backups to find a file to restore using the CGI interface I always run the risk of a backup running on one of the clients and destroying the historical record.
Is there a way to start the backuppc daemon and disable backups globally?

Just to followup I did try remounting the disk read only but backuppc complains it can't make a hard link and dies.
