Still doing it, but I also saw this:
root@COMPUTER:~# rsync localhost::
rsync: server sent "rsync version 3.0.7 protocol version 30"
rather than greeting
rsync error: error starting client-server protocol (code 5) at
main.c(1524) [Receiver=3.0.7]
