Hi Josh, the tar version is 1.15.1 running on Centos 5.5.
Under the configuration, the tarsharename is defined as
$Conf{TarShareName} = '/samba';

and the script for execution is
$Conf{TarClientCmd} = '$tarPath -c -f - -C $shareName $incrDate --totals';

I would suspect the execution line is not correct. appreciate if you can help
me point out. TIA! Cheers!

I don't use tar as a xfer method anymore, but I notice when I create a new client in backuppc, the default command I get is:

    $tarPath -c -v -f - -C $shareName+ --totals

with a + after shareName. Worth a try? Otherwise, I'm stumped... sorry.
